On April 15th, 2015 Shoulder to Shoulder had the privilege of hosting a delegation from Finland, which included both government officials and religious leaders, to discuss methods and models of dealing with extremism and bigotry. This delegation was convened by the Finish Ministry of the Interior, Finn Church Aid, and the Network for the Religious and Traditional Peacemakers.
Through a panel presentation, Rev. Richard Killmer, Dr. Sayyid Syeed, T.C Morrow, Rabbi Jack Moline, Jim Winkler, and Catherine Orsborn shared the story of the Campaign’s founding, strategies for success, and methods for multi-faith engagement on the issue of anti-Muslim bigotry in the United States. The presentation precipitated a lively lunch conversation about the various experiences of bigotry and extremism within US and Finnish contexts and laid much groundwork on which to build moving forward.
