This week (November 29, 2017), we’ve seen toxic messages on social media promoting anti-Muslim bigotry — and we need to be the antidote.
At times like these, we all have a moral duty to speak out as voices of love, inclusion, and solidarity.
We will not be silent in the face of Islamophobia and religious persecution. Ascribing isolated acts of hate and violence to an entire religion, culture, or population is wrong and hurtful to ALL people. We will continue to stand Shoulder to Shoulder with American Muslims, our friends and our neighbors, to uphold our religious values and American ideals.
Our campaign exists to uplift, connect, and equip faith communities to end anti-Muslim bigotry in the United States. Unfortunately, this work becomes even more relevant today as harmful and hateful Anti-Muslim videos circulate.
Shoulder to Shoulder is currently working on a video project that aims to dismantle common myths, tropes, and misperceptions about Islam and Muslims.
We are proud to serve as a faithful ally in this struggle, and we call upon our fellow citizens to treat each other with compassion and honesty, to foster an ethical commitment to bedrock American values such as pluralism and religious freedom, mutuality and respect — values also at the core of our religious traditions.
