Much controversy is stirring about the Muslim tradition of women’s wearing of a head scarf or veil. What is this about? How do we balance religious tolerance and women’s rights? What do we make of this as westerners? Let’s explore this charged topic together. You’re invited to bring a scarf or hat to the service if You choose.

Rev. Dr. M’ellen Kennedy is a Unitarian Universalist minister and also a Sufi minister.  She serves as consulting minister for the UU Churches in Springfield and Washington, Vermont. She is founder of “Peace and Unity Bridge,” (PUB), an organization dedicated to cultivating friendship and understanding among Muslims and non-Muslims (www.peaceandunitybridge.org)

Rev. Jeff Jones is a Unitarian Universalist minister and has been serving the Emerson UU Congregation since 2010. He graduated from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is committed to creating a better world through service and advocacy.
